Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Announce Two Mergers
Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) announced that mergers with Hematology-Oncology Associates of Tallahassee and Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope are now complete. According to Brad Prechtl, CEO of FCS, the merger with Hematology-Oncology Associates of Tallahassee adds 2 new physicians to the practice and the merger with Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope provides expanded treatment options to cancer patients in Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, and Sumter Counties.
Dr. Viralkumar Bhanderi and Dr. Paresh Patel will join the FCS family at their first site in Tallahassee, said Prechtl.
Dr. William Harwin, President of FCS, said that Dr. Bhanderi and Dr. Patel will provide more opportunities for patients in the Tallahassee area to benefit from the FCS unique community-based oncology practice model and increased access to national clinical trials.
Joining FCS from Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope are Dr. Jorge Ayub, president, and Drs. Patrick Acevedo, Sawsan G. Bishay, Mamta T. Choksi, Larry Gandle, Mary Maniei Li, Vikas Malhotra, Arthur Joseph Matzkowitz, Joseph M. Sennabaum, Gerald H. Sokol, Thomas H. Tang, and Gail Lynn Shaw Wright.
The merger with Florida Cancer Institute-New Hope adds seven clinical sites to the Florida Cancer Specialists’ network, extending service areas to Brooksville, Hudson, Inverness, New Port Richey, Spring Hill, The Villages, and Zephyrhills. In addition, the merger brings more comprehensive treatment for patients, including services in medical oncology, therapeutic radiation, and diagnostic radiology, as well as adding three comprehensive centers, several specialty centers, and a mobile PET/CT unit.
