Osceola Regional Medical Center Cancer Program Receives Accreditation
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) has granted Three-Year Accreditation with six Commendations to the Cancer Program at Osceola Regional Medical Center.
The Accreditation Program, a component of the CoC, sets quality-of-care standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to ensure they conform to those standards (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach, and quality improvement). Accreditation by the CoC is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
Receiving care at a CoC-accredited cancer program ensures that a patient will have access to: comprehensive care, including a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment; a multispecialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options; Information about ongoing clinical trials; access to cancer-related information, education and support; a cancer registry that collects date on type and stage of cancers and treatment results and offers lifelong patient follow-up; ongoing monitoring and improvement of care and quality care close to home.
Harris Awarded $37 million Contract
Harris Corp. (NYSE:HRS) won a $37 million recompete contract from the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research. The contract includes one base year and four one-year options and continues Harris’ 29-year history of providing data management for the institute’s clinical trials.
Under the contract, Harris will provide clinical data management, quality assurance and control, clinical audit and monitoring of clinical trials for safety and compliance, and maintenance and enhancement of research databases and systems.
Dan Pearson, Harris Corp.’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, said the company will develop enhanced processes technologies to support compliance with federal regulations. Harris’ team includes subcontractor Asclepius Solutions Inc. and includes medical doctors, research professionals, and information technology specialists.
Dr. Srinivas Seela selected one of the top 125 leading Gastroenterologists

Digestive and Liver Center of Florida’s physician, Dr. Srinivas Seela was chosen for the list. Each physician was selected for this list based on the awards they received from major organizations in the field, leadership in those organizations, work on professional publications and distinguished service in a GI ambulatory surgery center.
Dr. Seela did his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Yale University School of Medicine, one of the finest programs in the country.
Dr. Seela is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), and Crohn’s Colitis Foundation (CCF).
Skysoft Awarded $487,000 Contract
Skysoft Inc. has been awarded a $487,000 contract by Ke`aki Technologies, LLC, as a major subcontractor, to develop a prototype software system for Reducing Health Care Associated Infections Using Informatics – Innovation #291 for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is one of 26 innovation projects under the VA Information Technology Innovation Program which was established to allow critical health care innovations reliant on information technology to emerge from the field to improve health care quality, access, and transparency in service to our nation’s Veterans.

Osceola Regional Medical Center Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer
Glenn G. Romig has been named chief financial officer at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Romig arrives at Osceola from New Port Richey, Florida, where he spent 10 years as CFO for Community Hospital. During his tenure there, he developed a financial analysis and strategic focus for Community Hospital’s transition to a $210 million replacement hospital named Medical Center of Trinity. He was also instrumental in the launch of a Computerized Physician Order Entry system and in establishing a free-standing psychiatric facility on the hospital campus. Medical Center of Trinity and Osceola Regional Medical Center are both part of Hospital Corporation of America’s (HCA) West Florida division.
Prior to working at Community Hospital, Romig served as chief financial officer of Gulf Coast Hospital and East Pointe Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida. While there, he consolidated financial services at both hospitals and helped navigate the divestiture and sale of East Pointe, while developing a strategic plan for the future of Gulf Coast Hospital.
Romig’s prior professional roles include finance director of Florida for Columbia Physician Services in Tampa; controller at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Virginia; and assistant controller at Chippenham Medical Center, also in Richmond.
